Thank you for saying something I've ranted about to friends and family for a long time. When people look at me, I don't want them to pretend I don't have skin; I want them to see my brown skin and acknowledge that it is a part of who I am! I wouldn't be this particular me without it!

My church is racially reconciled, and I love that. It gives us freedom among friends (of every color) to speak truthfully and even humorously about color issues. We get to put it all out there and hash it out ... and dismantle some of the lies and cliches that cloud the issue.

So anyway, THANK YOU for your insightful post!
